This publication is the result of the summer course held at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), in collaboration with FHECOR Foundation and ACS Foundation. It compiles the presentations and debates that took place during the course in Santander in July 2024.
On one hand, the publication features advanced methodologies for the assessment and rehabilitation of bridges, intervention criteria based on residual life analysis and bearing capacity evaluation, strategies for routine and specialized conservation, and the heritage value of these infrastructures. On the other hand, it incorporates the functional and aesthetic approach of these engineering works, their importance in the history of civilizations, and their representation in the arts, such as painting, photography, literature, and film.
A journey through numerous engineering works with contributions from historians, architects, communicators, and other experts that broaden the understanding of these structures.
